Free Cataract Surgery in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara

Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih (YPP) SCTV Indosiar, BNI, and the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs are organizing a cataract surgery social service program called “ Melihat Terang di Daratan Flores” (“Bright Eyes on Flores”) from November 13 to 15, 2025.

The cataract surgery social service program will be held at Komodo Labuan Bajo Regional Hospital in West Manggarai Regency and will be supported by eye specialists from the Lombok Eye Clinic.

As a form of contribution to reducing the number of blindness cases due to cataracts in Indonesia, BNI provided financial support for cataract surgeries in Labuan Bajo and Southwest Sumba.

Cataract patients came from four regencies on the island of Flores, namely West Manggarai, Manggarai, Ngada, and East Manggarai. The patients were mobilized by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, which covered transportation from their homes to the location, accommodation, and meals during the event.

YPP SCTV Indosiar, BNI, and the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs visited the Cataract Surgery Social Service and spoke with the patients. The patients were very grateful for receiving free cataract surgery.
