Mass Cataract Operation Kembang Janggut Kutai Kartanegara East Kalimantan Together with Perdami of East & North Kalimantan.

Kembang Janggut sub-district is one of the sub-districts in Kutai Kartanegara which is located in an inland area. The main access to the Kembang Janggut area still relies on river transportation, you can go by land, but the road is still dirt which is badly dusty during the dry season and landslides or breaks during the rainy season. There is only one health center in Kembang Janggut, and 24-hour electricity was only available in 2015. This makes it difficult for the community to get medical services that are serious or require surgery. Prompted by the community's need for cataract surgery, the Perdami Kaltim Kaltara Team collaborated with YPP to hold a Mass Cataract Operation on November 24-25, 2018. In collaboration with the Kembang Janggut Health Center, 52 out of 70 screened patients were successfully operated on and had their vision restored.
It is hoped that the concern of Indosiar-SCTV viewers channeled through YPP and the enthusiasm of the Perdami Kaltim-Kaltara Team to overcome cataract blindness can ease some of the burden on our brothers and sisters in Kembang Janggut and improve their status as independent and active human beings.
