Media Literacy: Media Literate Students at Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang

In addition to general medical treatment, YPP, SCTV, Indosiar and Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School also organized Media Literacy with the theme "Santri Melek Media". The teacher of the boarding school, Gus Sholahudin Wahid, welcomed this activity and hoped that the students would better understand the negative and positive impacts of mass media and social media. Media Literacy Counseling which contains the dangers of hoaxes and their prevention was delivered by the Vice Rector of Univ. Hasyim Ashari, Prof. Haris Supratno; Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, Ubaidillah; and Corp. Secretary of Emtek Group, Gilang Iskandar. The students enthusiastically followed the counseling, including the sharing of their experiences as journalists by two Liputan 6 SCTV presenters: David Rizal and Dazen Vrilla.

CSR Director of Indosiar-SCTV who is also the Chairman of YPP, Drs. Imam Sudjarwo M.Si hopes that this kind of cooperation can continue in the future in various other places for the sake of the readiness of the nation's children in the midst of the onslaught of social media.
