The lack of blood supply in the month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr can endanger human life. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has anticipated this condition by regularly conducting blood donation activities at critical times such as during the month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1440 H. Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation (YPP) has the same concern and welcomes PMI's invitation, thus making the Ramadan blood donation activity an annual agenda of the health program. In 2019, YPP collaborated with Metropolitan Peduli Foundation (YMP), the social sector of PT Metropolitan Land, which included it as part of the National Social Solidarity (KSN) program of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.
As an effort to increase blood supply, YPP in collaboration with PMI Gresik held a Ramadan blood donation "Meraih Berkah dengan Donor Darah" on May 27, 2019 at UTD office of Gresik Regency. The activity started at 15.00 and finished at 22.00 WIB which could collect 519 blood bags from 751 registrants. Those who did not qualify to donate blood were due to various reasons, including haemoglobin levels and blood pressure that did not meet the requirements.
In this activity, Regent of Gresik, Sambari Halim also reviewed the activity accompanied by East Java PMI Board, H. Soebagyo, SW; Head of PMI Gresik Regency, IR Muhammad Nadjib MM; Head of UTD Gresik Regency, dr. Jufrita Endrayana and Head of SCTV Surabaya Transmission Station Prihantono. According to the Head of PMI Gresik Regency, IR Muhammad Nadjib, MM, this activity was held to commemorate World Red Cross & Red Crescent Day and World Blood Donor Day.
