
Together with the Indonesian Navy, we conducted Coastal Village Surgery activities on Masela Island from September 1 - 5, 2017. We participated in general health services, dental, specialty, minor surgery and major surgery.
The peak event on September 4 was attended by a number of officials including Aspotmar Kasal, Pangdam XVI Pattimura, Regent of Maluku Tenggara Barat, representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Maritime Affairs and the local government.
In health service activities, we together with the Indonesian Navy provide health services for:
1. General poly and internal medicine specialist: 461 patients
2. Dental clinic: 39 patients
3. Eye Clinic: 108 patients
4. Obgyn clinic: 11 patients
5. Surgical clinic: 56 patients consisting of non-operative: 23 patients and operative: 33 patients.
Particularly for operative surgery poly patients get minor surgical treatment: 13 patients (circumcision and benign tumors without complication) and major surgery: 20 patients suffering from cleft lip, hernia varies and tumors with complication.
We also had other activities, namely:
1. Fogging: 103 houses
2. Dental health counseling: 3 schools
3. HIV/AIDS counseling: 1 village hall.
To 250 students we gave 250 bags and school stationery. The number of personnel of the TNI Health Task Force Team was 40 people consisting of 5 specialists (internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, eye and obgyn), 2 general practitioners and 33 nurses / assistants.
